It’s About Time
The Chronos Film Festival—to my knowledge the only film festival dedicated entirely to time-lapse, slow-motion and stop-motion cinematography—will be spending some time at the KiMo Theatre in Downtown Albuquerque this weekend. Registration starts bright and early at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3. That’s followed by an opening speech by guest of honor Philip Bloom (the “undisputed leader and voice of the DSLR movement”). Talks will take place throughout the day by noted producers, directors, documentarians and cinematographers in the field of digital video. At 5 p.m., there will be a special screening of Godfrey Reggio’s groundbreaking 1982 documentary Koyaanisqatsi. At 6:45 p.m., it’s Santa Fe filmmaker Matt Page’s DV webseries “Enter the Dojo.” Then at 7:15 p.m., it’s Edgar Michael Bravo’s microbudgeted “social issue” drama Mother’s Red Dress. Lectures, screenings, performances and parties continue through Saturday, Nov. 5. Go to chronosfilmfestival.com for ticket information and a complete schedule of events.
