Spells , a low-budget romantic comedy shooting in Santa Fe starting mid-March, is looking for two featured roles. Producers need an “intelligent” female, aged 20 to 30, and a “handsome” male, 20 to 35. Both must be good at comedy. This film is being made under a low-budget SAG contract. Both SAG and non-SAG actors will be considered. The shoot is expected to last two weeks. To sign up for an audition, please submit photos and résumés electronically to daid@cybermesa.com.

Friends of Film, Video and Arts will have its monthly meeting on Sunday, Feb. 19. This iteration will include a tour of Albuquerque’s newest independent studio and production company, uPUBLIC. That’s the group poised to take control of the city’s Community Cable Channel 27 programming from longtime operator Quote … Unquote, Inc. The tour takes place from 3 to 6 p.m. at the studio itself (907 Third Street NW). As usual, there will be plenty of time to meet and network with other filmmakers. FoFVA is also scheduled to start planning the annual Laugh Out Loud Funny Film Festival—the final deadline for which is Saturday, Feb. 25. The tour/meeting is free to current members or $10 to nonmembers. For more info on FoFVA or the upcoming LOL Fest, log on to filmvideoarts.org.
