Week in Sloth

The Week in Sloth

Play Youtube Video

Thursday 10

“Parks and Recreation” (KOB-4 8:30 p.m.) Of all the shows on NBC’s Thursday night bubble, “Awake” is probably gone next season, “Community,” “30 Rock” and “The Office” are probably returning and “Parks and Rec” is a big question mark. At least we find out the results of Leslie’s run for city council in tonight’s season (series?) finale.

Friday 11

“Common Law” (USA 8 p.m.) Two longtime police detective partners (Michael Ealy, Warren Kole) are forced into “couples therapy” by their new-agey captain in USA’s newest crime-solving comedy. Well, that sounds wacky.

“The Half Hour” (Comedy Central 12 a.m.) Comedy Central’s newest series is ... just another collection of random stand-up comedy gigs. We’re happy to watch more comedy, CC, but why bother coming up with new names for the sort of thing you air every night?

Saturday 12

“Reggie Watts Live at Central Park” (Comedy Central 2 a.m.) See, Comedy Central. No beating around the bush there: name of comedian, location of concert, done.

Notes from the Heart Healer (Hallmark 6 p.m.) You give a film that schmaltzy a title and you’re gonna get my inner cynic all riled up. You cast Genie Francis from “General Hospital” and Ted McGinley from “The Love Boat” and you’re gonna make him explode.

“Mom Caves” (HGTV 6:30 p.m.) If men can have “man caves,” why can’t women have “mom caves”? ... Probably because most moms don’t want to live in caves.

“Fish Tank Kings” (National Geographic Wild 8 p.m.) Clearly, one docu-reality series about people who install fish tanks (Animal Planet’s “Tanked”) isn’t enough. So here’s another.

Sunday 13

“Desperate Housewives” (KOAT-7 8:01 p.m.) Marc Cherry’s occasionally campy, suburban soap opera takes a long-overdue series finale bow.

Monday 14

“The Weight of the Nation” (HBO 6 p.m.) This four-part documentary series explores the facts and myths about obesity in America. Parts 1 and 2 air tonight. Parts 3 and 4 air Tuesday. Apparently, it was too big a topic to fit in one night.

“Invention Hunters” (Food Network 7 p.m.) Food Network searches for the next great food-based invention. Will it be “Mary’s Marinating Stick”? Or “Shoot-a-Brew”? Probably not.

Tuesday 15

“Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files” (Syfy 7 p.m.) Syfy turns tonight’s programming into a promo stunt for the film Battleship. First up, the “Fact or Faked” team investigates an alien apparition at an old World War II battleship.

“Dream Machines” (Syfy 8 p.m.) Next up, the builders over at “Dream Machines” are challenged to construct some kind of battleship-shredding machine from the movie.

Wednesday 16

“American Digger” (Spike 8 p.m.) Spike’s latest History Channel rip-off has guys with metal detectors and shovels traveling the country digging up ancient artifacts like Civil War treasure, Native American pottery and megalodon teeth. What? No pirate booty?
