Week in Sloth
“Oprah’s Next Chapter” (OWN 7 p.m.) Tonight’s guest: Lance Armstrong. If Lance is gonna fess up to the doping thing, I’m thinking this is the place to do it.
“Legit” (FX 11:30 p.m.) This inappropriate-sounding sitcom stars Jim Jefferies as a struggling comedian inspired to do better things in life after taking a friend with advanced-stage muscular dystrophy (DJ Qualls) on a debauchery-filled road trip to Las Vegas.
“Newsreaders” (Cartoon Network 1 a.m.) From the folks who brought us “Children’s Hospital” comes this parody of TV news shows.
“Fringe” (KASA-2 7 p.m.) FOX’s dimension-tripping sci-fi series comes to an end with this two-hour finale.
Prosecuting Casey Anthony (Lifetime 6 p.m.) Rob Lowe stars as Jeff Ashton, the Florida atorney who did a generally lousy job of prosecuting Casey Anthony for the murder of her young daughter.
“An Idiot Abroad” (Science 7 p.m.) Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant are packing their “friend” Karl Pilkington up for a third season of unwanted travel. This time they’re forcing him to retrace Marco Polo’s route across Asia—with undersized actor Warwick Davis in tow for added giggles.
“Ripper Street” (BBC America 7 p.m.) Matthew Macfadyen (Pride and Prejudice, Robin Hood) stars in this British mini-series about cops in 1889 London who fear that Jack the Ripper has returned.
Tasmanian Devils (Syfy 7 p.m.) Somebody call Bugs Bunny, Syfy has weaponized Tasmanian devils! … Bugs isn’t available? Who have we got? Olympic speed skater Apolo Ohno? Seriously? Man, this is gonna be a long night.
“Stuff You Should Know” (Science 8 p.m.) It’s Science Channel. Who am I to argue?
“Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan” (BBC America 8 p.m.) Former Hobbit and “Lost” star Dominic Monaghan does the Marlin Perkins thing with his own animal show.
“Chasing the Saturdays” (E! 11 p.m.) Tell you what, England. You stop shipping all your awful, artificially manufactured pop groups our way, and I’ll see if we can return the favor.
“The Following” (KASA-2 8 p.m.) In this bloody crime thriller series, a retired FBI agent (Kevin Bacon) is called in to hunt down an escaped serial killer (James Purefoy, Mark Antony in HBO’s “Rome”) who is building a cult of cross-country serial killers.
“The Taste” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) Anthony Bourdain gave up “No Reservations” for this generic cooking competition show? Hope the checks are large.
“Lords of War” (National Geographic 7 p.m.) A team of historians travels the country to find, assess and auction off antique weapons and militaria. Another fine addition to the “buying and selling people’s old crap” genre.
“Street Eats” (Food Network 8 p.m.) Food Network starts out this new series about tasty street vendors by visiting Latin America.
