Week in Sloth
“Community” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) The study group goes to an Inspector Spacetime convention, which is awesome if you’re a fan of both “Community” and “Doctor Who.” Which I am, so yay!
“For What It’s Worth” (VH1 Classics 8 p.m.) VH1 enters the “buying and selling people’s old crap” genre (see for reference: “Storage Wars,” “Container Wars,” “Pawn Stars,” “Auction Hunters,” “American Pickers,” “Toy Hunter,” “Diggers”). Being on VH1, they try to concentrate mostly on records and music memorabilia.
“Upload With Shaquille O’Neal” (truTV 8:30 p.m.) Love viral videos but don’t have a computer? Love viral videos but can’t find “Tosh.0,” “Web Soup,” “Ridiculousness,” “Failosophy” or any one of a dozen other viral video clip shows already on TV? Why not check out this new one hosted by Shaquille O’Neal? Who knows more about the Internet than Shaq?
“American Cougar: Revealed” (National Geographic 6 p.m.) Oh, you mean actual cougars. Not man-hungry suburban divorcees? Huh, I actually expected less of you, TV.
“The 2013 Independent Spirit Awards” (IFC 8 p.m.) It’s the night before the Oscars, and that means it’s time for the cool kids to come out and play. Andy Samberg hosts, Matthew McConaughey is up for two awards, some movie called Keep the Lights On is nominated for Best Feature.
“A Bryk at a Time” (DIY 7 p.m.) OK, I’ll buy “Holmes on Homes.” His name is Holmes, he fixes homes: It’s a decent play on words. But a home-improvement show starring Danielle Bryk called “A Bryk at a Time”? That’s stretching the definition of a pun, people.
“Fashion Police: The 2013 Academy Awards” (E! 10 p.m.) Upholding the fine tradition of bagging on million-dollar dresses.
“Celebrity Wife Swap” (KOAT-7 7 p.m.) In the first episode of the new season (yes, this is tragically still on the air), Playmate Kendra Wilkinson trades spouses with mom-of-eight Kate Gosselin. First of all, kudos to Gosselin for finding yet another way to make money off her fertility without having to get a job. Second of all, she’s divorced from Jon Gosselin, so she’s not technically a wife anymore, ABC. Third of all, she’s ditching her eight kids with a nude-
Parade’s End (HBO 7 p.m.) Do you love “Downton Abbey”? This World War I-set BBC mini-series is very Downton-esque. And it’s got Benedict Cumberbatch in it. Who are you to resist?
“Golden Boy” (KRQE-13 9 p.m.) It’s your standard CBS police procedural, but it’s told in flashback with the protagonist (Brit actor Theo James) reflecting on his life journey from homicide detective to the NYPD’s youngest police commissioner.
“Robot Combat League” (Syfy 8 p.m.) Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots come to life in this new reality show competition.
“Boston’s Finest” (TNT 7 p.m.) Notorious Southie Donnie Wahlberg came up with a great idea for a TV show: It’s “COPS,” but in Boston. Just Boston. Wicked great idea, Donnie.
“Stranded” (Syfy 7 p.m.) What if you took a bunch of ordinary people, gave them video cameras and “stranded” them at various allegedly haunted locations around America each week? Would the crappy, night-vision footage be blurrier, more chaotic and therefore more spooky than the junk shot by professional ghost hunters?
