Week in Sloth

“Sanjay and Craig” on Nickelodeon

Thursday 23

“Save Me” (KOB-4 7 p.m.) In this kooky sitcom, Beth (Anne Heche) starts receiving messages from God after a near-death experience. Enjoy it while you can, it’s not on the lineup for fall.

“Showville” (AMC 7 p.m.) You know how much you love small-town talent shows? Well now you don’t have to go to the community center to watch one.

“Does Someone Have to Go?” (KASA-2 8 p.m.) In FOX’s newest reality show, employees at troubled companies decide which staff member to fire. ... Remember that time you ate my lunch out of the fridge, Craig? Boo-yah!

Friday 24

“Invasion” (Animal Planet 5 p.m.) AnPlan kicks off its new invasive animal paranoia show with “Invasion of the Swamp Monsters.” Killer reptiles, giant pythons, virus-carrying snails: just the stuff to make you long for a nice summer vacation in Florida.

Saturday 25

“Sanjay and Craig” (Nickelodeon 8:30 a.m.) Created by the animators behind “Bob’s Burgers” and produced by the geniuses behind “The Adventures of Pete & Pete,” this crackpot cartoon introduces us to a kid and his talking snake (voiced by nerd comedian Chris Hardwick).

Sunday 26

“Doctor Who: Revisited” (BBC America 6 p.m.) Fifth Doctor Peter Davison gets his flashback with an airing of the 1982 story “Earthshock.” It’s got Cybermen!

Behind the Candelabra (HBO 7 p.m.) Michael Douglas is Liberace and Matt Damon is his lover Scott Thorson in this flashy biopic by Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven).

“Rock My RV With Bret Michaels” (Travel Channel 7 p.m.) Following his dating show on VH1 and his rockin’ dog clothing line at PetSmart, former Poison singer Bret Michaels naturally transitions to a recreational vehicle remodeling series. Next up: Endorsing “Bret Michaels’ Bad-Ass Stool Softener.”

Monday 27

“Hit the Floor” (VH1 7 p.m.) VH1’s new series “follows the lives and loves of the Los Angeles Devil Girls, the premiere dance team in all of professional basketball.” Hey, at least it’s not a reality show.

Ring of Fire (Lifetime 7 p.m.) Singer Jewel stars as June Carter Cash in this made-for-TV biopic.

Tuesday 28

“Brooklyn DA” (KRQE-13 9 p.m.) CBS camera crews follow the men and women of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office around for the sake of a summer reality show.

“Never Ever Do This at Home” (Spike 9 p.m.) In what is certainly the most socially responsible show of the summer season, two dudes conduct “experiments” by ignoring warning labels—like tossing propane containers into a fire.

Wednesday 29

“Inside the Actor’s Studio: 250th Special” (Bravo 5 p.m.) James Lipton delivers a two-hour retrospective featuring new interviews with favorite guests.

“American Baking Competition” (KRQE-13 7 p.m.) Aka “The Most Generic Summer Cooking Show Title We Could Come Up With in 30 Seconds.”
