KiMo Theatre (423 Central NW) is kicking off a new collection of classic film series in September featuring superheroes, sci-fi and songs. Thursday, Sept. 3, sees the start of Marvel Comic Heroes, beginning with 2008’s Iron Man. That’s followed by The Incredible Hulk (Sept. 10), Iron Man 2 (Sept. 17), Thor (Oct. 8), Captain America: The First Avenger (Oct. 15), The Avengers (Oct. 22) and Iron Man 3 (Oct. 29). All of those start Thursdays at 7pm. On Friday, Sept. 4, Sci-Fi Fridays returns with 1956’s Invasion of the Body Snatchers (6 and 9pm). That’s followed by 1968’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (6 and 9pm on Sept. 11) and A Clockwork Orange (6 and 9pm on Sept. 18). Saturday, Sept. 5, brings with it Rock ’n’ Roll on Film. The opening act is 1982’s Pink Floyd’s The Wall (3 and 6 pm). On Sept. 12 it’s 1988’s Imagine: John Lennon (3 and 6 pm). On Sept. 19 (3 and 6pm) we get 1996’s R.E.M. RoadMovie. Reel World: A World Of Motion Pictures A World Of Motion Pictures

Globalquerque!, Albuquerque’s annual celebration of World Music and Culture, is set to launch its 11th outing this Sept. 25 and 26. To get audiences in the mood for the tune-filled event this year, organizers are sponsoring an International Cinema Series at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (1701 Fourth SW). ICS kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7pm with the Colombian drama The Colors of the Mountain, about a group of young schoolboys desperate to retrieve their beloved soccer ball from a military minefield. On the docket after The Colors of the Mountain are the homewrecking Japanese comedy Hospitalité (Sept. 10), the artistic American documentary Pedro E. Guerrero: A Photographer’s Journey (Sept. 17) and the food-filled Spanish film Tasting Menu (Sept. 24). All those screenings start at 7pm. On Saturday, Sept. 26, as part of Globalquerque! proper, there will be two screenings: the New Mexico premiere of the global food system documentary Greening the Revolution (11am) and the Academy Award-nominated 2015 film Timbuktu from France/Mauritania/Mali (2:15pm). Reel World: Reel Robots Reel Robots

On Sat. Sept. 5, the DynaTheater at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science will open the new documentary Robots 3D. From the bottom of the ocean to the depths of outer space, Robots 3D explores how robots have been used to get to places humans could never survive. What will the future bring to both man and machine? Be among the first audiences to see the film by showing up Saturday at 10am (2D), 12pm (3D) or 2pm (3D). Tickets are $10 adults, $8 seniors and $6 children 12 and under. The New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science is located at 1801 Mountain NW.
