Thursday 14

“Adventure Time” (Cartoon Network 8:30pm) “Adventure Time” continues its proud tradition of allowing various alternative visual artists to direct their own episodes of the cult cartoon. Tonight, for example, features the show’s first-ever stop-motion animated episode, guest-directed by freelance animator Kirsten Lepore (“Bottle,” “Move Mountain”).

“The World Dog Awards” (KWBQ-19 7pm) This annual awards show celebrates canines for their work “in the military, health services and entertainment.” Also, “dogs that became famous on the internet.” George Lopez hosts, because … yeah, what else is he doing.

“Colony” (USA 8pm) “Lost” executive producer Carlton Cuse is the co-creator of this new sci-fi thriller in which Los Angeles suddenly finds itself an unwitting colony for invading aliens. Josh Holloway (Sawyer on “Lost”) stars.

“The Greatest Party Story Ever” (MTV 11:30pm) MTV animates people’s best stories of getting drunk and doing crazy stuff.

“Idiotsitter” (Comedy Central 11:30pm) A straight-arrow Harvard grad is hired to “babysit” for a stupidly rich woman-child whose debauched lifestyle has landed her under house arrest.

Friday 15

“Just Add Magic” (Amazon streaming anytime) A young girl and her two best friends discover her grandmother’s cookbook filled with mystical recipes in Amazon’s newest, live-action kids’ series.

Saturday 16

Love on the Sidelines (Hallmark 7pm) It’s the NFL’s divisional playoffs this weekend, so Hallmark is exploiting the occasion with this romance about a woman, down on her luck, who falls into a job as an assistant to a football player out on injury. How does this not star Alyssa Milano?

Sunday 17

“The 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards” (A&E/Lifetime 6pm) Awards season continues unabated, handing out gold statues willy-nilly in anticipation of Oscar night.

“Billions” (Showtime 8pm) Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis (“Homeland”) star in this new drama about an aggressive New York attorney who deals exclusively with obnoxious hedge fund billionaires.

Monday 18

War & Peace (History/A&E/Lifetime 7pm) Several cable channels chip in on this prestige adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s weighty novel about the French invasion of Russia. Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine) and Lily James (“Downton Abbey”) are among the cast.

Tuesday 19

“Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years” (KOAT-7 7pm) ABC pays tribute to the Star-Spangled Avenger’s big anniversary.

“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time is Now” (KWBQ-19 8pm) Keeping with the theme of the night, The CW previews their new comic book series “Legends of Tomorrow.”

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” (KOAT-7 8pm) ABC counters with the season two of its retro superspy series.

“DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League” (KWBQ-19 8:30pm) The CW lands the final, super-powered blow: Kevin Smith hosting a sneak preview look at upcoming DC Comics movies such as Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.

Wednesday 20

“Kocktails with Khloé” (FYI 8pm) “Celebrities and friends” join Khloé Kardashian in the kitchen for an “intimate dinner party.” … You know, with cameras and lighting technicians and makeup people and directors and network executives and PAs. That kind of “intimate.”
