Following the film will be a discussion with speakers from the Los Alamos Study Group, Citizens for Alternatives to Radioactive Dumping, Stop the War Machine and Southwest Research and Information Center. The screening/discussion will take place Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Albuquerque Peace and Justice Center (202 Harvard SE).

Black History—The College of Santa Fe Student Activities Office will present “Blacks in Entertainment: A Film Industry Panel” on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Tipton Hall. CSF alumni Rockmond Dunbar (star of Showtime series “Soul Food”) and TV personality Malonda Richard (“Out the Box,” “BET: Next”) will lead the film panel, which will address such topics as the current state of blacks in the media and entertainment industries, obstacles that minorities face and black issues in greater society that may be addressed in media. Admission is free and open to the public. The College of Santa Fe is located at 1600 St. Michael's Drive in Santa Fe.

Alienation—Touched, the sell-out smash of December's Santa Fe Film Festival, will get a special two-night screening in Albuquerque and Santa Fe this coming week. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, the film will screen at The Screen at the College of Santa Fe campus (1600 St. Michael's Drive). On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the film will show at Madstone Theaters in Albuquerque. Both screenings begin at 7 p.m. The film by Laurel Chiten is a documentary-style examination of people whose lives have been “touched” by alleged alien abductions. Dr. John E. Mack, a Pulitzer Prize-winning expert in the field of alien encounters, will be on hand for both screenings. Mack is the author of Passport to the Cosmos: Human Transformation and Alien Encounters as well as Witnessing: Abductees as Sacred Truth-Tellers and is one of the professionals interviewed in Chiten's film. Tickets are $10 at the door both nights.

Free Stuff!—It's been a while since they've done anything in Albuquerque, but the fine folks at on-line promotion company are handing out some free passes for an upcoming movie screening. The film is the Jim Carrey/Kate Winslet film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This oddball sci-fi outing is the latest from writer Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation). No word yet on the date, but if you want to secure those tickets, you'd better act quickly. Log on to
