Sometimes it pays to watch the credits. I wouldn’t have given ABC’s new musical drama “Nashville” much of a glance if I hadn’t paid attention to who’s behind the camera. The show is created by Callie Khouri, who won herself an Academy Award for a little movie called Thelma & Louise.

Out actor/comedian Tom Lenk (star of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” The Cabin in the Woods and Transformers) is the special guest at this year's 13th Annual Southwest Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. He'll be talking about his “dorkumentary” Nerdgasm, in which he travels to England to fulfill his lifelong dream of performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe—while indulging nerdy British fantasies like following in the footsteps of Harry Potter. SWGLFF starts Friday, Oct. 9, at Guild Cinema with Peter Greenaway's lush Opening Night drama Eisenstein in Guanajuato. It runs through Oct. 18 with 26 LGBT-centric dramas, comedies, documentaries, romances and horror films from around the world plus six blocks of shorts. Nerdgasm will screen Saturday, Oct. 17, at 9:15pm.
