Pedro Almodóvar flies the frantic skies in silly, sky-high romp

After the kinky, creepy quirk of 2011’s mod-goth masterpiece The Skin I Live In, Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar returns to his campy, soap-operatic roots with the palate-cleansing amuse-bouche I’m So Excited.
This August the KiMo Theatre is presenting its Summer Retrospective of Mexican Cinema. In conjunction with the Consulate of Mexico, KiMo will screen five classic Mexican films. The series starts on Thursday, Aug. 1, with 1943’s Flor Silvestre (Wildflower).
The exploitative element of Discovery Channel’s new survival show “Naked and Afraid” shouldn’t comes as much of a surprise to viewers. It’s right there in the title. The surprise, rather, is the addictive nature of the seemingly familiar material.
