Riki-Oh (The Story of Ricky)

This infamous Hong Kong film from the wild and wooly 1990s has become a certified cult classic. A clip of an exploding head from this movie first popped up on the late, great "Five Questions" segment from Comedy Central's "The Daily Show." Bootlegs of the film began circulating shortly thereafter. Here, we've got a brand new 35mm print of the entire, uncut thing. This preposterously hyperbolic action/comedy/sci-fi/crime/gore flick (based on the comic book of the same name) follows a handsome young student into a high-tech futuristic prison where he plans to hunt down the evil killers who bumped off his beloved girlfriend. He accomplishes this in short order, dispatching the killers with a mind-boggling assortment of eye-popping (literally) kung fu moves. In Cantonese with English subtitles. 91 minutes
