A Fist Full of Dollars

For my money, the two greatest filmmakers in the history of film were Akira Kurosawa and Sergio Leone. Both understood the primal power of cinema, creating huge myths with broad strokes and big actions. This 1964 film was the first of Leone's iconic spaghetti westerns featurting Clint Eastwood. A remake of Kurosawa's Yojimbo, the film has Eastwood as a wandering gunslinger pitting two rival gangs against one another. A masterpiece. 99 minutes
