The Gates of Hell

Italian horrormeister Lucio Fulci has contributed as much, in his own over-the-top way, to the zombie genre as Night of the Living Dead's George Romero. Like the majority of his films (The Beyond, Zombi, New York Ripper), this 1980 gore flick unfolds with the disjointed logic and shocking imagery of a bad dream. Seems the suicide of a clergyman in the cursed New England town of Dunwich, has cracked open the gates of Hell. Can a big city reporter and a female psychic find a way to close the door to damnation before the dead overrun the earth? ... It's a horror movie. What do you think? 92 minutes
