Wondering why times are missing?

Siddhartha

Hermann Hesse's legendary novel about Buddhist enlightenment comes to life in this notorious 1972 film. Story finds a young Indian lad embarking on a quest for the meaning of life. It's slow and has a distinct proto-hippie vibe to it, but it sure does look sumptuous. The director hung out with the Beats and did a lot of LSD with Timothy Leary and it shows. Oddly enough, the film was very popular in India, but flopped in America. Internal spiritual quests don't exactly translate into thrilling cinema. 94 minutes
