Bright Young Things

Brit actor/comedian Stephen Fry ("Blackadder," "A Bit of Fry and Laurie") wrote and directed this wry comic adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's novel Vile Bodies. Emily Mortimer, Dan Aykroyd, Jim Broadbent, Simon Callow, Stockard Channing, Peter O'Toole and Richard E. Grant top the smashing cast list. The film peers, tabloid-style, into the lives of a young novelist, his would-be fiancée and a host of beautiful young Londonites circa 1930. Debauchery, drugs, gossip, fame--why this could be 2004 Hollywood! Waugh's moralizing falls a bit flat in the end, but it's frothy fun up until then. 105 minutes
