Thérèse: The Story of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux

Churches have been jumping on the Hollywood bandwagon ever since Mel Gibson made a tidy bundle off The Passion of the Christ. Just in time for Halloween comes this Catholic-approved adaptation of the life story of Saint Thérèse, an "ordinary girl" who became a nun and then died of tuberculosis. Later on, apparently, she healed some sick people. It's hard to crack on a film that's so damn sincere, but the direction and editing are purely amateur and the acting is on the level of most Sunday school morality plays. If you're not already sporting a St. Thérèse medallion around your neck, you probably won't sympathize. 96 minutes
