Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Based on the hit stage play, this drama/comedy focusses on a devoted housewife (Kimberley Elise, John Q ) who's living the perfect American Dream with her rich attorney of a husband--that is until he uses their 20 th wedding anniversary to announce that he wants to divorce her and marry her best friend. The film wraps its "Christian values" message in several layers of sitcom slapstick, but its unrealistic morality and sunny outlook really only work when preaching to the already converted. 116 minutes
