Home of the Brave

This moving documentary tells the story of Viola Liuzzo, the only white woman ever murdered for the American Civil Rights Movement. Liuzzo campaigned for black suffrage in Selma, Ala., and was killed in 1965 by several members of the Ku Klux Klan. All but forgotten today, Luizzo's killing was instrumental in pushing through the Voting Rights Act. The film (narrated by Stockard Channing) examines not only the history of America's civil rights struggle, but the heartbreaking emotional effects on Liuzzo's family. 75 minutes
