Playwright/director David Mamet's latest film played quite well on the film fest circuit. It's very in-joke-oriented, however, and may not do as well among those not so deeply entrenched in Hollywood lore. The story concerns a troubled Hollywood crew that has invaded a bucholic little New England town in order to film a movie. William H. Macy is the nervous director, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is the harried screenwriter, Alec Baldwin and Sarah Jessica Parker are the egotistical stars. Some fine Hollywood skewering and a few "Green Acres"-style jabs at the locals make for a riotous (if slightly mean-spirited) satire. 102 minutes
