Once again, the government is short of super agents and must go looking for criminals, punks and dangerous thrill-seekers to fill the bill. (Seriously, guys, set up a booth at a college job fair; it's much easier.) This time around, superspy boss Samuel L. Jackson recruits an imprisoned, ex-military renegade (Ice Cube subbing for "too cool for sequels" Vin Diesel) to battle a military splinter group aiming at bumping off the president. With Willem Dafoe doing bad guy duty, you know this is pretty run-of-the-mill stuff. Director Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day, Once Were Warriors) tries to add some style to the proceedings, but the lunkheaded script keeps things pretty brainless from start to finish.101 minutes PG-13.
