Look At Me

Slimly scripted, but rich in character, this French import revolves around an egotistical author (co-writer Jean-Pierre Bacri), his overlooked, insecure daughter (Marilou Berry), her jaded singing instructor (director/co-writer Agnès Jaoui) and the instructor's ambitious writer of a hubby (Laurent Grevill). Bacri and Jaoui have been responsible for a number of films, including the exquisite The Taste of Others. Here, the duo have created a keenly observed, economically written and emotionally intimate look at two groups of people whose respective gravities cause them to fall into orbit with one another. In French with English subtitles. 110 minutes PG-13.
