Please do your best to put the last few Batman films out of your mind. This fresh reimagining of the series, courtesy of director Christopher Nolan (Memento), brings the character back to his dark roots. Christian Bale (Empire of the Sun, American Psycho) takes over the role of young Bruce Wayne, searching for a way to rid Gotham city of its bizarre criminal element. This one's much grittier and serious than previous efforts, and places the bat back in the scary film noir world in which he belongs. With Michael Caine, Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. 140 minutes PG-13.
