Gender provocateur Sally Potter (Orlando, The Tango Lesson) goes in for more sexually driven drama with her newest film. An American scientist (Joan Allen) finds herself strangled by her marriage and begins an affair with a Middle-Eastern man (Simon Abkarian). Assorted political, racial and sexual issues are turned over as the two begin a mad, clandestine affair across the face of the globe. Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones's Diary) costars as a philosophical "cleaner" who witnesses the trail of dirt and heartbreak our protagonists leave behind. The dialogue, by the way, is written in rhyming couplet. If you haven't graduated college, don't bother. 95 minutes R.
