Performance artist Miranda July busts out with an intimate indie film that revels in the details of ordinary life. Writer/director/actor July plays a video artist who falls in love with a recently divorced shoe salesman (John Hawkes from "Deadwood"), father to two young boys. Several other characters and storylines wend their way into the film, giving it an almost ensemble feel. July is a tad too cute and quirky but Hawkes is incredible and the film's quiet, microscopic observation of life, love, sex and marriage is frequently priceless. A sure bet for fans of the oddly wonderful and the wonderfully odd. 90 minutes R.
