Director Fernando Meirelles (City of God) helms this classy adaptation of John Le Carré's novel. In a remote part of Kenya, a British activist named Tessa Quayle (Rachel Weisz) is found murdered. Her companion has fled the scene, leading British authorities to label it a crime of passion. Tessa's mild-mannered husband (Ralph Fiennes) has other ideas and embarks on an investigation that turns up a global conspiracy. Great performances and an emotion-filled script lend significant weight to this timely thriller. 129 minutes R.
