Swede Lasse Hallström (What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat) directs this minor-key melodrama about a down-on-her-luck single mother (Jennifer Lopez), who moves in with her estranged father-in-law (Robert Redford), a grizzled Wyoming rancher. Over the course of the film, old wounds are healed and there's a whole lot of crying. Lopez should stop acting across from legends like Jane Fonda and Robert Redford. She doesn't come off well in the comparison. That aside, this one is slow, mawkish and all-too-familiar. 107 minutes PG-13.
