The Greatest Game Ever Played

Who could possibly forget the 1913 U.S. Open, when 20-year-old Francis Ouimet defeated reigning champion Harry Vardon? Unless you're a hardcore golf historian, I really can't imagine the appeal of this meandering, Disney-ized portrait of early 20th-Century golf champions. Actor-turned-director Bill Paxton (Aliens) lenses the whole thing in a lovely, turn-of-the-century tone, but the pretty cinematography and the solid acting can't save a film that makes the sport of golf even more boring than it is in real life. 120 minutes PG.
