After stumbling his way through Vanilla Sky, filmmaker Cameron Crowe tries to get back to his cute roots (Say Anything..., Jerry Maguire) with this big, fat romantic comedy. After being fired from his cushy job and dumped by his hot girlfriend, a depressed young executive (Orlando Bloom) returns home to the deep South to attend his father's funeral. There, he re-evaluates his life and falls in love with a cute, quirky flight attendant (Kirsten Dunst). It's all very likable, but most of it seems like a recycled version of Garden State. Plus, it takes way too long to play out, dawdling over subplots and secondary characters.138 minutes PG-13.
