Niki Caro, the director of Whale Rider, returns with this film firmly cemented in the grand tradition of Norma Rae, Silkwood and Erin Brockovich. Charlize Theron plays a crusading mine worker who filed the first class action sexual harassment lawsuit in America. The subject sounds a little drab, but Theron (surrounded by the likes of Sissy Spacek and Frances McDormand) contributes some impressive acting fireworks. Earthy and emotional, this real-life drama has probably got a couple Oscar nominations in it. 126 minutes R.
