End of the Spear is the kind of patronizingly Christian film that Christians think is just perfect for non-Christians. It isn't, but thanks for trying. Loosely fictionalized from a real story, the low-budget film follows a group of Christian missionaries in the '50s who travel to the remote jungles of Ecuador to "civilize" a stone-age tribe. The mission ends abruptly when the missionaries are slaughtered (none of them bothered to learn the language of the native Waodani tribesmen). Years later, Steve Saint, the son of one of the dead missionaries (Chad Allen from "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman") returns and teaches the poor dumb savages to put down their spears, wear baseball caps and worship Jesus. The churchier aspects are kept in the background and the setting is pretty, but the film still won't break much ground beyond church camp outings. In English, Waodani and Spanish with English subtitles.108 minutes PG-13.
