Wes Craven's 1977 horror hallmark gets set up for the inevitable Hollywood remake. As in the original, this one involves an ordinary suburban clan driving through the American Southwest. Their car breaks down, they get stalked by mutant killers, you know the rest. Like basically all modern horror films, this is more or less a scene-for-scene redo of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. French director Alexandre Aja (Haute Tension) definitely adds some gripping visual energy and some creepy settings, but the script is mighty familiar. 107 minutes R.
