May Day LaborFest 2006

The Central New Mexico Labor Council celebrates May Day with a screening of the legendary, shot-in-New-Mexico film Salt of the Earth. This controversial 1953 drama closely follows the events of a real-life, year-long strike by Mexican-American mine workers in their ancestral home of Silver City, N.M. The film will be accompanied by a "making of" documentary and nightly panel discussions featuring actual participants in the Salt of the Earth strike on which the film is based. 94 minutes
