Wondering why times are missing?

One Bright Shining Moment

This new documentary examines the 1972 presidential run of former Sen. George McGovern, a man labeled "too decent to be president." Narrated by Amy Goodman of "Democracy Now!," the film serves as both biography and political analysis. Having taken a spot at the forefront of the Vietnam era's antiwar movement, McGovern and his campaign have more than a few parallels in today's political climate. Although McGovern lost to Nixon in spectacular fashion, the film argues that McGovern's grassroots tactics, antiestablishment stance and overall decency made his Democratic nomination a major victory for American politics. 125 minutes
