This musical documentary concentrates on ex-Beatle John Lennon's participation in and effect on the antiwar movement in the U.S. during the Vietnam Era. Of course, there's plenty of talk about the Nixon administration's meddlesome involvement in Lennon's life--all of which is a mighty thinly veiled metaphor for today's government crackdown on dissent. That would be fine, of course, if only the film didn't praise Lennon in such worshipful tones. A little more personal insight and a little less hagiography might have been a better tack to take. 96 minutes PG-13.
