The multi-multi-award-winning stage play moves to the big screen with most of its original cast intact. What we've got here is your basic inspirational teacher drama with a touch of British whimsy thrown in for good measure. Richard Griffiths plays an iconoclastic teacher who tries to imbue a love for poetry and learning in his bright but unruly prep school students. The play hasn't exactly been opened up, and some of the performances feel over-rehearsed; nonetheless, there's plenty of verbal wit on display. Fans of Yorkshire playwright Alan Bennett (The Madness of King George) will be happy enough. 109 minutes R.
