Albuquerque artist Nina Fonoroff has been making experimental films for 30 years. Her award-winning work has been exhibited at museums and showcases throughout the U.S. and Europe. In 1998 she received a Guggenheim Fellowship for her work in film and is among this year's awardees for the New Visions/New Mexico contract award program. She is an associate professor at UNM's Cinematic Arts Department. In this free program, co-presented by Basement Films, The Guild will screen "Half-Mask" (2004, 40m): Inspired by 19th-century "decadent" literature, this film is a foray into the perverse inner lives of a couple of aesthetes who seek to unmask each other in a ghostly rendezvous. Other short work will also be screened.
