Killer of Sheep

Charles Burnett's once-lost, now-found 1978 film is a neorealist examination of the black Los Angeles ghetto of Watts in the mid 1970s as seen through the eyes of a sensitive family man growing numb from working at a slaughterhouse. Shot documentary-style on location with a mostly amateur cast, the largely plotless film finds incredible beauty in the slow, steady rhythms of everyday life. Double featured with Salt of the Earth. 80 minutes Unrated.
