How She Move

MTV recycles one of the most overused plots in recent cinema with this Toronto-based dance flick. Instead of the impoverished street-smart dancer ending up at a tony dance academy and shaking up the status quo with his/her "radical" style, this dance flick has a girl booted from private school ending up in a crime-filled inner-city neighborhood where she develops a love for competitive step dancing. If your list of all-time favorite movies includes Step Up, You Got Served, Feel the Noise, Honey, Stomp the Yard and Save the Last Dance you are the target audience. Director Ian Iqbal Rashid gets points, at least, for lending some grit to the familiar setting. 98 minutes PG-13.
