George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead

George Romero returns to his favorite haunting ground, writing and directing a low-budget zombie flick that might be considered a sequel to his 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead. In it, a group of young film students runs into real-life flesh-eaters while filming a horror movie. (How meta.) Even if this home-camcorder concept does seem a bit worn-out in the wake of The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield, it's nice to see Romero back in no-frills territory. 95 minutes R.
