Life Before Her Eyes

A woman (Uma Thurman) experiences suvivor's guilt 15 years after a Columbine-like school shooting. Director Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) tries to capture the foreboding of Laura Kasischke's novel, but ends up confusing audiences with his pretentious symbolism and ersatz twist ending. Evan Rachel Wood contributes some vivid work as the teenage Thurman (in the film's many, time-looped flashbacks), but that's probably this melodrama's sole bright spot. 90 minutes R.
