The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

During World War II, the 8-year-old son of the commandant at a Nazi concentration camp innocently befriends a young Jewish boy. The film is quite sensitive, with nuanced performances by actors young (newcomer Asa Butterfield) and old (brooding Brit David Thewlis). The film's tearjerking moral feels mighty traumatic for young audiences, but adults will appreciate the subtle examination of institutional evil. 93 minutes PG-13.
