Mickey Rourke dominates this glum yet engrossing character study about a faded professional wrestler still trying to scrape out a living long after his mid-'80s heyday. Director Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For a Dream) sheds his heady visual style for some single-camera grit. The story is minimal and intimate, but it comes across as utterly real. Whether you want to or not, you'll feel every visceral hit our hero takes in and out of the ring. A sure Oscar contender. 115 minutes R.
