This existential comedy delivers a timely message, but it does so with a great deal of heart, wit and intelligence. George Clooney plays a corporate executive whose job it is to jet around the United States and fire people. He relishes his freewheeling existence, but starts to question it all when he crosses paths with a similarly rootless female (sexy, sophisticated Vera Farmiga) and is forced to train his replacement (naive but headstrong Melanie Lynskey). Funny, mature and thought-provoking, this is the kind of adult movie Hollywood doesn't spend a lot of time making anymore. 109 minutes R.
