The Room

Writer-director-producer-star-madman Tommy Wiseau became an industry legend with this 2003 cult effort. Allegedly, Wiseau spent $7 million of his own money (on Lord knows what) to make this claustrophobic San Francisco-based romantic drama. It first became a sensation in California, playing theaters for months on end and inspiring dialogue-chanting audiences into paroxysms of befuddled worship. Now, it's making its way across America, infecting new towns with its indescribable brand of inept filmmaking madness. Entertainment Weekly dubbed this one "the Citizen Kane of bad movies" and it's hard to argue. 99 minutes R.
