Ben Affleck directs his second feature after 2007's Gone Baby Gone. This one's also a Boston-baked crime thriller based on a bestselling novel. Affleck plays a career bank robber with a tight-knit gang of Irish-American partners. When a robbery goes wrong and the gang is forced to kidnap a young bank manager (Rebecca Hall), Ben volunteers to cozy up to her to see if she recognized any of her masked kidnappers. Naturally, he falls in love with her, which doesn't sit too well with his partners. The story isn't anything special, but the details—from the dialogue to the settings—are pitch perfect.
