The Time Machine

Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, Memento) does the H.G. Wells thing as a time traveler who finds himself stuck 800,000 years from now in a dark future world filled with peaceful humans and evil Morlocks. This one's directed by Simon Wells (Prince of Egypt, Balto), who just happens to be the great-grandson on H.G. Wells himself. Unfortunately, Wells' descendent is more interested in cool special effects than in social criticism, resulting in an entertaining but occasionally empty bit of eye-candy. 96 minutes
