Natalie Portman is the insecure, unstable dancer who lands the lead role a new production of Swan Lake. Undone by paranoia, self-doubt and ... um, the overwhelming power of classical ballet?, our gal goes slowly nuts. Portman puts a lot of mental and physical effort into this odd mix of All About Eve-style backstage melodrama and David Cronenberg-inspired bodily horror. If only the plot were more detailed. Other than "girl goes crazy," this absurd, lurid, arty, over-the-top freak show doesn't have much of a story to tell.FULL REVIEW:Ballet: Boring or scary?
