Every Man for Himself

Isabelle Huppert, Nathalie Baye and Jacques Dutronc star in this obscure, highly self-referential Jean-Luc Godard film. It examines the sexual relationships between a film director, a prostitute and a TV host, all of whom interact with one another in differing combinations. Godard directed this one in 1980 after he had largely abandoned narrative filmmaking for a decade. He called it his "second first film." It's easier to follow than most of his work. Part of SWFC's Godard/Truffaut weekend. In French with English subtitles. 87 minutes
