In 2007, director Tom Shadyac (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Nutty Professor) suffered a debilitating biking injury. Naturally, he sold his Hollywood mansion, dumped his high-flying film career and got all spiritual. Now, he helms this loosey-goosey New Agey documentary. In it, Shadyac travels the world talking to various intellectual and spiritual leaders (Desmond Tutu, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn) and asking them how we can improve ourselves and our life here on Earth. While much of the wisdom is kinda obvious (i.e. "money doesn't buy happiness"), the film does present us with an optimistic (and occasionally funny) portrait of human beings as decent, loving and fundamentally democratic creatures.78 minutes Unrated.
